EDUCATIONGarfield believes in a strong public education system that is accessible to ALL children in Tennessee.
As a grandparent of a rising kindergartner, Garfield is well aware of the issues facing families with children in Tennessee public schools. He is a fierce supporter of teachers and other school system employees and believes that public tax dollars intended for education should stay with public schools. He listens to teachers and school employees as well as parents regarding issues such as 3rd grade retention, school safety, employee pay and reading/math standards. |
INFRASTRUCTUREAs a truck driver and life long resident of Clarksville, Garfield has seen the area grow from a small town to the thriving city that we know and love. He has had firsthand experience of how the lack of foresight in our transportation infrastructure spending has led to the current level of traffic congestion and roads in a frustratingly bad state of repair. Garfield believes in planning ahead and working with his colleagues to build a transportation system that is ready for our future needs, instead of patching problems and reacting to issues as they arise which leads to chaos, delays and unnecessary stress for residents.

CORPORATE ACCOUNTABILITYOver a lifetime living in Clarksville, Garfield has witnessed our state and local governments hand out our tax money to corporations with little to no accountability. This has led to situations like the empty semi conductor plant. He will work to ensure that any public money given to business is used wisely to benefit the whole community and prevent corporations who "take the money and run".

Tennessee Republicans have secured their supermajority and are using it to run roughshod over any kind of opposition. It’s time that we redress the balance and let our voices be heard in our house. Garfield is running to do just that!
